![]() Southborough is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, and is located 24.10 miles west of Boston (28.4 miles by car). It incorporates the smaller villages of Cordaville, Fayville, and Southville. Its population was 9,767 at the 2010 census, in nearly 3,000 households. Southborough was named Number 31 in the nation on CNN Money's "100 Best Places to Live" in 2009. Southborough consistently ranks #1 as the wealthiest community in Worcester County. Incorporated in 1727, land use now is primarily residential, with substantial open space. Southborough has a quiet rural charm enhanced by scenic roads, reservoirs, open space, as well as two prestigious boarding schools, helping to frame Southborough’s historic village center. Southborough is a sleepy town yet offers easy access to Route 9, 495, the Massachusetts Turnpike, and has an MBTA Commuter Rail stop. Southborough is a wonderful home for those seeking outdoor recreation including Breakneck Hill Conservation Land offering walking trails, Sudbury Reservoir Trails, Chestnut Hill Farm Trails, Baypath Turenne Wildlife Habitat, and the Bay Circuit Trail, St. Mark’s Golf Course, and Fayville Park. The town has 4 public elementary and middle schools, and is part of Algonquin Regional High School. It’s also home to the Fay School and the prestigious St. Mark’s School. Annual Events include Southborough Summer Nights, Heritage Day parade and fair, the Annual Egg Hunt at the Community House, the Gobble Wobble 5k, and Santa Day when Santa flies onto the St. Marks Meadow in a helicopter delighting kids of all ages.
